Vincent Filingeri was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 16, 1923. He was the first son born by a mid wife. His parents, Angelina and Vincenzo were born in Italy.
Vincent had one brother, Sal. Vincent served in WWII and served his country for four years. While he served he was on furlough and met his wife, Marie, on the beach. They dated for four years. They were married on November 24, 1946. They went to Canada on their honeymoon. They had one daughter, Maryann and one granddaughter, Danielle. Vincent’s bond with them was one to be admired. Every birthday and holiday they had their own tradition and therefore countless memories. Vincent also had three sons, Vincent Jr, Anthony and Danny. He had twin grandsons, Domenic and Anthony Jr.

Vincent was a sheet metal worker , butcher by trade and a tailor. Basically, he was a jack of all trades. He learned to speak Chinese later on in life. He belonged to the American Legion Veterans. He would also go to Amico Center where they would put on variety shows and would go to Atlantic City once a month. Vincent was nominated president of Amico. He was very active and involved in many aspects.  Vincent was always fixing things and loved to plant. He loved to cook and bake as well. As early as 4 am he would wake up and start cooking for the day. He belonged to the Bowling League. Vincent did a portrait of the streets of Paris. He was involved in Church functions. Each Palm Sunday, he would attend Mass with his granddaughter, Danielle. After Mass, he would make palm crosses for us. Vincent loved to make home movies and created beautiful memories.
He didn’t stop driving until he was 83 years old. The car that he drove was the same car that he taught his granddaughter, Danielle how to drive in. After he stopped driving, he gave her the car. Vincent was the life of the party, everyone loved him. When Vincent and Marie had their 50th Anniversary party and celebrated their 80th Birthday, he was on the dance floor having a blast.

Vincent was the strongest and most selfless person ever. Anyone that got the opportunity to meet him found his laugh and sense of humor warm, loving and funny. He was the best provider through his sacrifice. Vincent had a heart of gold.
